About Me
I’m Chloe. Welcome to the cozy home I always wished someone would show me how to make.
The Afternoon My Living Room Made Me Cry!
I was 27 when I sat down on the floor of my first real apartment, surrounded by boxes I had no energy left to unpack, and cried.

Not because the apartment was bad. The rent was fair, the windows were big, and the kitchen had that one drawer that sticks — you know the kind. But the walls were rental beige, the sofa was secondhand, and nothing in the room felt like me.
That afternoon I moved the same sofa three times. Three times! Each time I stepped back, hoping the room would suddenly feel like home. It never did. So I sat on the rug, in a pile of throw pillows I didn’t know where to put, and cried for a while.
Here’s the thing nobody tells you: it’s not the furniture. It’s the feeling. And no one had ever taught me how to create that feeling without spending a fortune.
That was the afternoon Cozy with Bennett started — though I didn’t have a name for it for almost a year.
Why People Like Us Deserve Better
Most home decor advice felt like it was written for someone else. Someone with a big budget. Someone who owns their walls and can paint them whatever color they want. Someone with rooms big enough to get lost in.

The rest of us? Renters. Small-apartment dwellers. People decorating one corner at a time because that’s what the budget allows. We were invisible.
The message was always the same, in two equally exhausting flavors: either spend thousands to do it “right,” or accept that a cozy home just isn’t for people like you.
Neither one is true. I know because I’m the one typing this, in a cozy little home that was decorated one thrift-store find at a time — and so are you, reading this from yours.
This blog exists because that afternoon on the rug, I decided that if no one was going to write honest, affordable, real-life decorating advice, then I would.
If You’re Standing Where I Stood
I write for people who want their home to feel like them — even when the budget says otherwise and the landlord says “no paint.”
You might be:
- Someone staring at blank rental walls, wondering how to make them feel like home without breaking the rules
- A new homeowner with big dreams and a very small decorating budget
- Someone who has moved three times in four years and is tired of living out of boxes
- A person who loves cozy homes but always assumed “decorating” was for other people
- A reader with great taste and no patience for perfect showrooms that look nothing like real life
Whichever one you are, you’ll find something here. I write the posts I wish someone had handed me that afternoon.
A Few Things You Should Know About Me
Most About pages tell you the author is passionate about their topic. I’m not going to do that.
- I rearrange furniture when I’m stressed. My sofa has lived in four positions this year. Four.
- I own more throw pillows than any one person needs, and I regret nothing.
- My best decor finds came from a thrift store, a garage sale, and once — a curb. (It was a solid wood frame. Someone just left it there!)
- I believe every home needs one candle lit in the evening. It’s a rule. I don’t make the rules. (I made this rule.)
- I write every post like I’m texting a friend who’s about to redo her bedroom this weekend.

How This Blog Earns the Right to Be Read
I take what we publish here personally, because most home decor content either talks down to you or tries to sell you things you don’t need. I’m not interested in being one more voice like that.
Every article on Cozy with Bennett is written to be genuinely useful: ideas you can actually try this weekend, with what you already have. No perfect showrooms. No impossible budgets. Just real ideas that actually work.
If anything on this site ever feels off to you, I want to hear about it directly.
One Last Thing
If you’ve read this far, you’re probably someone who reads About pages carefully. I respect that. I do the same thing.
So I’ll close with this: there is nothing wrong with your home. The advice that made you feel like it wasn’t enough was the problem. The feeds full of perfect rooms you’ll never live in were the problem.
This blog is my small attempt to make that better. I’m glad you found us.
Come say hello through our contact page — I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
— Chloe
